2017 Pinot Noir - Hummingbird Hill - 94 Points
A steep, westerly exposed vineyard near Taylor Mountain, this pristine vineyard benefits from the cooling winds off the ocean through the Petaluma Gap. Planted to three clones of Pinot Noir, Hummingbird Hill is a sustaining vineyard with everything from hummingbirds, bobcats, wild turkeys, owls - even a Golden Eagle swoops down occasionally to grab a jack rabbit. I first discovered this beautiful place in 2011 when sourcing some Sauvignon Blanc (remember that?) and when I learned there was Pinot Noir also planted there, literally the hair on my arms stood up - its a winemaker thing.
94 Points "From a site near Taylor Mountain on the outskirts of the Petaluma Gap appellation, this red is light in color and delicate in a floral aroma. Earthy elements of sage and black tea underlie crisp, elegant flavors of cherry, pomegranate and blood orange. A lasting finish of baking spice caps it off." Virginie Boone
